End of January Update

Hi Everyone,

It's been a very busy couple of weeks - especially with some inclement weather last week. We are still playing catch up! Hope everyone is staying warm and safe as the snow continues to fall.

We have moved onto our Measurement unit in Math.

Grade 6's have been working on measuring lengths, finding perimeter of complex shapes, and converting different units (mm, cm, m & km). There will be a small quiz on Friday on these topics.

Grade 4's have been working on measuring lengths, choosing an appropriate measuring unit, and solving perimeter of basic shapes. They will also have a small quiz on Friday on these topics.

In language, we are starting our own narrative writing pieces. I'm really looking forward to seeing their stories come to life as we continue to plan and write them.

Upcoming Important Dates:
Friday, February 1st/2019- Animal Spirit Day (a kindergarten initiative)... bring $2 and dress up like an animal, bring in a stuffy or a photo of your pet to raise funds for the Humane Society
Thursday, February 14th/2019- Term 1 Report Cards come home

Welcome!

Happy New Year! I'm hoping that you had a wonderful winter break and are ready for all that 2019 has to bring.

I would like to start by introducing myself. I am Mrs. O'Connor and will be your child's teacher for the remainder of the school year. I am so excited to be joining the St. James family. I am looking forward to getting to know you and your child over the remainder of the school year. If you would like to get a hold of me, please don't hesitate to contact me through your child's agenda or contact the school.

On this class blog, you will find updates (typically weekly or bi-weekly) about our class. It will range from week to week but it is made with the purpose of keeping you informed on what we are up to in the classroom. It will also include any school reminders, copies of important communication notes, reminders about upcoming quiz's or projects as well as links to helpful resources.

Grade 6 parents... There will be a Holy Trinity Parent Info Night on Thursday, January 24th at 7 pm. Please note this meeting is not for students, it is for parents only.

Looking forward to a great start to the new year!

-Mrs. O'Connor
